my morning jacket rocks!
my friends often ask me what's good left on the radio. this is my latest answer:
my morning jacket
just the way he says california in this song takes me back to my old tom petty and steve miller records.

courteney cox and me -- parallel universes?
interesting, courteney is 40 this tuesday (i'll be 40 in a couple of months), married a man 8 years younger (david arquette - 32, my husband 32 in december), experienced fertility problems (courteney had many miscarriages before having her first, my problems developed after the birth of my first child), and has been married 5 years (as i will be on september 11th of this year, yes you read that right).
oh yea, and had her kid exactly one week early, same as me.
if you think of any more parallels, put them in the comments.

are we afraid to criticize ronald reagan posthumously?
there has been only one negative article about ronnie, and now i can't find the link.
do we have to maintain some respect for the person once he dies, even if we hated them when they lived?

the post-breakup stuff exchange
remember those uncomfortable moments after a breakup when you start shuffling stuff back to the rightful owners? typical things include cds, dvds, clothes, important objets d'art (like a matchbook collection).
its different from post-divorce stuff splitting. in this case, there is an ownership issue that's missing in the earlier relationship scenario.

Whole Foods coming to Swampscott???
I just drove by the old foodmaster in swampscott and they were taking down the sign.
actually, all that was left of the letters were "ster" so they are getting close to dismantling it altogether.
rumor on the streets is that a whole foods is going in there. its rumor no more: according to the whole foods website, foodmaster is in fact becoming a whole foods store.
all i can say is whoopee! i never have to leave the north shore.

Who Drives Reform?
I'm thinking about this as Bentley embarks on a one day conference in august, entitled "does marketing need reform?". what is reform?
does rebellion drive reform?
can there be just "form" or do we have to use the existing ideology?
i tried to get dave weinberger on the docket but his brand wasn't strong enough up in the ivory tower of marketing academia. yet, he's saying what the true reformers in marketing are saying about marketing. marketing assumes people are dumb and they are pissed because we don't buy enough of their crap. i'm paraphrasing the ad age article about dave's last talk.
